Since September 11, 2001 much attention has been focused on international safety and security measures. European customs legislation has included the concept of "Safety and Security". It guarantees "safety" for people and "security" for goods.
Early December 2011 MEG was accredited by the Dutch Customs Administration for its location and warehouses and received the Authorised Economic Operation (AEO) certificate.
Holders of the Combined Customs Simplification and Secruty and Safety Certificate, like MEG, will benefit a.o. of the following advantages in relations to the movement of goods (import/export):

receives priority treatment of consignments

subject to less physical inspections and document check
-
recognition of the AEO security certificate by other countries (outside the EU)
The starting point of Customs for provinding the Certificate is based on organized trust which would be "horizontal" supervision with regard to the complete logistic chain. It involves meeting the criteria on customs compliance, competent HR policy, appropiate record-keeping and financial solvency.
